$30 million for mice - economic stimulus?

I am truly heartsick right now. How does $30 million for harvest mice create lasting jobs or real value in the economy? It doesn't. It might create temporary tangential work, but it doesn't create a new profitable company that produces anything. I'm so disgusted with these people. They should be able to explain to us how each "project" included in this bill will affect the economy and the taxpayer.

Sewing Project 1983

Fashion is now so iconic, it looks like I sewed it from a Butterick pattern ala 1983.

Trio Los Panchos at The Ford

One of the most perfect Los Angeles evenings ever. It would have only been better if Eydie Gorme had never married that no-goodnik Steve Lawrence.

Law & Order: Farina Unit

Okay. well you already love DF, sure we miss Lenny, but he'll be back on his own show. It's still good, I will still watch it and I will curse the programming genii that will force me to forsake LW for CSINY. No i cant tape it or tivo it or whatever you thirty somethings do with your tvs now. it's not THAT important to me. I just will never understand TV Programming "logic".

and don't get me started on Alias in January - that's a worthy, and wordy, post on its own.

csi: not so much

new csi: ny tonight. i forewent one epi of new dennis farina infused Law & Order, to give old Gary Sinise a try. He totally creeped me by the end of the episode.

But that's not what my problem is with the show. I hate to do this, they are fellow below the liners, but the production design is making a huge mistake, not to mention the dp. Too stark, too dark, too surreal - where are they even? There are few and far between long shots of ANYTHING. I'm sure we can all agree that Vanessa Ferlito has got incredible lips, but please, back up the camera! I cant see what's going on. so claustrophobic i lost complete interest in the story.

desire to watch again: PENDING

is stone phillips a robot?

well, is he? i've already lost interest in the subject and am much more excited about a new set of ads for h+p digital photography. ADD LINK LATER. too lazy right now. clever, beautiful font choices, nice color schema, not too much, but catchy enough to make you look. I like it. for the moment anyway.

like the new HUMMER ad. Glad to see everyone sat down and watched a Wes Anderson retrospective for that one.
golly, it has been a while. we can take that as a sign of my notoriously short attention span or the fact that I have actually been working. (correct answer: a little from column a, a little from column b),

too many bad and revolting ads in the past several months to recount, but I've worked with a few bad ad wizard types and several revolting producers, none of which i'll be mentioning here by name of course, because I'm hoping they'll hire me again soon.

uh, colgate, are you kidding?

that's a beaver.

i think we need a liitle more of this, (note photo at top) , in advertising. Thank you Dave Barry for the link.

uh, sbc, you know at&t has been sending one bill for a real long time now... now, if you put the dsl, local, and long distance on one bill without fucking up and overcharging me for calls i didn't make, that would be something.
Dear The Grove L.A.:

I believe you have been the victim of a cruel hoax; smooth jazz is neither smooth nor is it jazz. And playing it outdoors loudly does nothing to make it so. In fact, not only is it unpleasant, it is grating and I want to kill it. Please, I implore you, make it stop.

ps: fyu - scaramenga called, he wants his pink acid water out of your fountain and back at his lair at once.

memo to producers of tv spots: no, you can't just give me a couple of pa's to help in the art dept. when will you learn. would you suggest such ridiculosity to any other dept? Hey DP, how bout if i just give you a few pa's instead of your ac's. hey grips, pa's can do your jobs, right?

I'm calling my union.
hey toyota, phil collins still blows
